Four local practices have created a shared database of their electronic health record data and want to start developing reports to help them improve the care of their patients. Pick a disease state you are either familiar with or want to research and post a couple of brief paragraphs in the discussion section describing what information you would pull from this database and put in a report to help the physicians improve the care of that disease.
Electronic health records have been increasingly used in practices not only for their ease of use and record keeping, but also to make it easier for physicians to track patients over the longer term, and across different medical practices. The idea of a shared database between local practices (or even non-local practices) gives physicians a greater sample pool to draw data from compared to each practice only having their own patient database.
