Assessment 2 is an investigative report and comparison on the

“Adoption of Big Data and associated technologies: a comparison in two Industry sectors”.
Your research requires that you research two (2) organisations (in different industry sectors) who have adopted “Big data”, “Data analytics” or associated technologies. Investigate the strategy behind the adoption and implementation of the technologies, the benefits and risks for each organisation and the outcomes. You should then complete a comparison of the organisations (and the industry sectors) examining the differing strategic motivations and outcomes.

A possible structure of the report could be as follows:
 Introduction – definition of the technologies and their scope.

 Organisation 1:
Firstly, A description of the organisation and the industry sector

Secondly, An explanation/description of the technologies adopted

Thirdly, The strategy behind the decision to adopt the technologies

Fourthly, What were they seeking to achieve (from the business perspective)

Further, What were the technical requirements e.g. cloud

Additionally, What have been the benefits and issues (remember the organisational aspect)

Also, Organisation 2 (as above).

Moreover, Comparison of benefits and outcomes across the differing organisations and industry sectors.

An example of two organisations in differing industry sectors might be: McDonalds and Walmart, Facebook and Amazon, John Deere and Bank of Scotland, Twitter and FitBit.

Investigative writing sets out to investigate a topic and report the findings to the reader. Your aim is to inform the reader of your findings to give them an understanding of the topic.
