Nurses play significant roles in providing care for people with different illness and disabled individuals to ensure that they maintain or attain optimal health. However, in order to achieve this role, nurses must perform their duties within a specific scope of practice (David et al., 2015). practice for these healthcare givers depends on the qualification, experience as well as membership to professional nursing organizations (Catallo, Spalding & Haghiri-Vijeh, 2014). Specifically, the role of the professional bodies in supporting specialty care among nurses has been of utmost importance in positively influencing the health system which in turn optimizes quality outcomes to patients. The role of the professional nursing organization in developing the scope of practice is a concept worth exploring considering that they determine the roles of nurses in current and future practice.

As such, the present study delves into the analysis of the role of nursing informatics organization for the scope of practice of an advanced registered nurse. The discussion will explore three professional organizations that support the scope of nursing informatics practice followed by an evaluation of evolving issues surrounding the scope.

Scope of Future Role as an Advanced Registered Nurse

Nursing is one of the most dynamic and evolving professional fields with a host of limitless opportunities. The career prospects in nursing clearly define the scope of practice since a practitioner can specialize in various lines of care. According to Liu, Lee and Mills (2015), nursing informatics (NI) is one of the emerging scopes that aims to optimize care for patients. NI is a specialty of nursing practice that incorporates the application of computer software as a documentation tool to improve the quality of care for patients. The scope is considered as a union that combines nursing practice with technology as well as data assimilation (McCormick & Saba, 2015). Nursing informatics comprises of countless tools, which include simple computers to more advanced electronic medical record systems that are diligently organized to deliver health information about patient care.

Moreover, nursing informatics is vital in the future role of advanced registered nursing practice. This is guided by the argument that the scope is one of the strongest as well as the most far-reaching and current practices of care. Furthermore, NI involves the implementation of evidence-based practice (EBP) in nursing care to optimize the delivery of health services to patients (Sewell, 2018). The nursing informatics software platform provides a framework for the implementation of documentation in the clinical systems and delivery of healthcare models. Besides, an advanced registered nurse specializing in informatics develops a deeper understanding of the design and the organizational framework of the healthcare industry particularly by focusing on the contemporary challenges facing the sector.

However, for one to specialize in the scope of nursing informatics, a care provider must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) although a master’s degree in the same is preferred. Nonetheless, a nurse in this specialty must have a Nursing Informatics Certificate for one to be allowed to implement clinical information systems in a health facility. In addition, nurses specializing in NI need to hold academic credentials on Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CAHIMS) as well as Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) (Gaber, 2016). Further, a nurse must exhibit excellent computer skills and knowledge computer software programs particularly Microsoft Word, PowerPoint together with Microsoft Excel. Moreover, a nurse is required to have knowledge of how the clinical workflow operates in a care facility from inpatient to outpatient care settings (Sewell, 2018). Deeper knowledge about the Federally Qualified Healthcare standards (JCAHO) is also a prerequisite before a nurse opts for the specialty of nursing informatics. Nurses interested in the informatics specialty also need to be credentialed by the American Nurse Credentialing Center for them to acquire scope of standards of practice (Liu, Lee & Mills, 2015). However, a nurse specializing in informatics should develop a deeper understanding of the requirements of Health Insurance Portability and Accountable Act (HIPAA) to gain insights on the safety regulations to safeguard medical information.

Three Professional Nursing Organizations Influencing Advanced Registered Nursing

Professional organizations, as well as associations, are vital in the provision of nursing care to patients. With regard to a nursing specialty in informatics, the scope of standard practice is influenced by three different nursing organizations (Schwirian, 2013). The first and the most important organization is the American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA), which aims to integrate nursing science and computer science to manage data of patients (Catallo, Spalding & Haghiri-Vijeh, 2014). The organization enhances professional development for the nursing practitioners in the field of informatics and optimize information management to enhance safety for patients. The second vital organization in informatics is the American Nurses Association (ANA). The association released the Nursing Informatics Scope and Standards to guide decisions on practice for nurses in the field of informatics (Gaber, 2016). ANA is, therefore, an organization that provides practice standards that informs nurses on the recommended scope of practice on issues related to informatics. Finally, the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) is an important organization that links biomedical practices with health informatics to optimize patient care.

Of the three organizations, I am likely to join the American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA). The latter is in line with my future practice as an advanced registered nurse since it incorporates health information with research and practice (Catallo, Spalding & Haghiri-Vijeh, 2014). As such, membership with the organization will enable me to stay connected with the emerging practices of clinical environment through understanding the interactions in the field of technology. The mission of ANIA inclines to education and research, which are consistent with my future roles as an advanced nurse practitioner in the scope of informatics (Liu, Lee & Mills, 2015). In my transition in the field of informatics nursing, ANIA will improve my interaction with patients and this will offer a platform for developing clinical judgment based on the data obtained from the clients. Besides, I have a conviction that ANIA will develop my practice skills on how to ensure accuracy in handling patient data to minimize the instances of medication errors associated with wrong data entries.

Advanced nurse practitioners become specific in terms of their role in order to reflect their academic levels. The scopes of various advanced nursing practices vary based on the specialty. As such, it becomes imperative to specify the role that one is looking to pursue in their Master of Science education during the exploration of the same. Moreover, these advanced specialties are facilitated by various nursing organizations with each having multifarious goals and objective. As such, the present paper will analyze the scope of nursing leadership as the future role of the present writer, the efforts being undertaken to expand nursing leadership as well as the positive influence of nurse leaders on the healthcare system.

The Scope of Nursing Leadership

The scope of nurse leaders is widespread. However, the most prominent scope of nurse leadership is advocacy. The advocacy spans various actions including actions that will both lead to appropriate allocation of resources and promotion of positive workplace setting. Indeed, the advocacy skills that are necessary for the present scope of nursing leadership include collaboration, problem-solving as well as communication (Hamilton et al., 2018). The point of care nurse leaders are thus required to develop and then apply the usage of advocacy skills that will allow them to address emergent workplace issues, enhance the existing working environment, and proffer advocacy for the nursing profession.

Moreover, nurse leaders are also responsible for ensuring the prevalence of quality care for patients. They play a successful role in the desire to improve and initiate increasing number of initiatives that result in successful outcomes. In order to achieve this, nurse leaders will undertake several stratagems such as ensuring that they are visible within the clinical units. Moreover, nurse leaders will need to emphasize on the practice of patient-centered care by creating a conducive environment for it (Abraham & Scaria, 2017). Indeed, sharing their vision for success within their workplace is similarly critical in achieving this scope. Further, ensuring the presence of quality patient care will also require a nurse leader to engage and ensure visible and active partnerships between healthcare colleagues including physicians.

Therefore, the specialty of nurse leader focuses on overseeing the integration of patient care which would encompass the establishment of treatment plans, collating and analyzing treatment outcomes, as well as ensuring proper management of the medical teams addressing various patient conditions (Murray, 2017). In addition, they play a fundamental role in creating health promotion activities as well as disease prevention initiatives. All these efforts lead to the realization of the significant role that nurse leaders play in healthcare.

The American Organization for Nurse Executives (AONE) plays a fundamental role in ensuring that the improved patient care occurs within sections led by nurse leaders. The organization identifies core competencies that will lead to the development of the individual scopes that lead to the final scope of improved patient care. The competencies referred to above include communication, leadership, healthcare environment knowledge as well as professionalism (Joseph & Hubber, 2015). According to the AONE, the adoption of transformational leadership leads to effectiveness in care, which plays an important role in working with interprofessional teams, innovating functions and roles, as well as managing care coordination in healthcare settings.

Three Professional Nursing Organizations

The American Nurses Organization, American Organization for Nursing Leadership, and Organization of Nurse Leaders are the three professional organizations that mostly influence the role of nurse leaders in facilitating the presence of improved quality of care. The American Nurses Association represents over 3.1 million nurses in the United States and its main focus is on fostering the presence of extremely high standards in nursing, which aligns with the mandate of nurse leaders.  Moreover, the organization also has frameworks in place that support advocacy efforts by both nurses and patients. Indeed, the ANA has the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements, which encourages the practice of ethical decision-making, by stating that the nurses’ utmost devotion is to the patient (Thomas et al., 2016). Further, the Code of Ethic as stipulated by the ANA also states that nurses are responsible for promotion, advocating, as well as striving to cushion the health, rights, and safety of individual patients, which feeds into the overall scope of nurse leaders.

The American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) functions as the voice of nursing leadership. The AONL purposes to shape the healthcare via leadership strategies that are innovative and expert in nature. It offers nurse leaders with a professional development facilitates learning experiences that are innovative and competency-based. Indeed, the AON dives positive change via collective nurse leaders voice in matters associated with improvement of quality through their working environment (Begley, 2019). The adoption of advocacy strategies supported by the organization promote the value of nursing leadership and the contribution that it has to healthcare team in relation to the pursuit of improved quality of care.

The Organization of Nurse Leaders will play an important role in ensuring that nurse leaders accomplish the scope described there above.  The organization advances various issues that would ensure the presence of conducive working environment that in turn leads to excellent services. Indeed, the organization collaborates with various national and local professional healthcare organizations with the sole purpose of ensuring the promotion of excellence in the leadership of nursing (Thomas et al., 2016). As a consequence of these efforts, high-value and high-quality patient care emerge due to the efforts of nurse leaders affiliated with this organization.

As a prospective nurse leader, I would most likely join the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL). The organization offers nurse leaders with the requisite tools to deliver competent and quality healthcare services. The goals and objectives of the organization entail ensuring that nurse leaders acquire innovative and expert nursing leadership aligns with my desire to provide quality healthcare services to patients. Moreover, the organization ensures that nurse leaders are ahead of emerging issues through their provision of competency-based education (Thomas et al., 2016). Further, the AONL ensures that healthcare transformation that will impact patient care occur through various undertakings. All the above lead to improved patient care, which is foundational to my personal philosophy. In my philosophy, I believe that patients should be given the utmost attention and everything that is done should lead to enhanced services regarding patient care.

Membership in the AONL will have remarkable influence on my leadership capabilities. As stated, the organization looks to impart nurse leaders with competency-based skills. The innovative focus of its professional development will also be crucial to my reign as a nurse leader as it will offer me with modern tools and skills to solve various issues and influence the presence of appropriate working environments hence improved care for patients.

Please see below, detailed instruction for the paper:

Advanced registered nursing graduates are entering the profession at dynamic time when roles and scope of practice are shifting based on developments in legislation and policy in response to the evolving needs of the health care system. Professional nursing organizations play an important role in making sure the perspectives of advanced registered nurses are heard, and in supporting nurse specialties in their efforts to expand their scope of practice and their full participation throughout the health care system.

Scope of Future Role as an Advanced Registered Nurses SAMPLE 2

Nurses continue to adopt greater responsibilities as leaders and managers in different healthcare settings due to current changes in legislations at state and federal levels. As the role of the nurse transforms from a physician’s assistant to an integral member of the life-saving team, the nurse leader role emerges. The scope of a nurse leader is wide but at the core of this responsibility is to guide nurses and ensure that they are complying to high standards of quality care and patient safety. In its report, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) noted the importance of nurses leading change and advancing health as essential ways of transforming the nursing profession and delivering quality and safe care to patients in diverse practice settings (Ducharme et al., 2017). The IOM report key message states that nurses should be full partners with physicians and other health professionals in redesigning healthcare in the country. As an advanced registered nurse, my future role is to be a nurse leader in clinical practice championing effective care and increased partnership between nurse practitioners, physicians and other health care professionals.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that close to 500,000 registered nurses would be retiring and leading to a demand for about 1.1 million new nurses to meet the new demand and replace retirees most of them in managerial and leadership positions (Dyess et al., 2017). The implication is that the scope of nurse leader’s role would have expanded responsibilities and the need to offer supervisory services to staff in a hospital or clinical setting. Nurse leaders are responsible for ensuring safe delivery of care and are must be intimately familiar with the safety standards and protocols of the medical profession and their healthcare practice. Nurse leaders are expected to supervise members of the nursing team to ensure that all patients get safe care.

Successful nurse leaders maintain and use evidence-based practices in their nursing team and settings. The implication is that as a nurse leader, one must be up to date and well conversant with different medical practices and protocols. Nurse leaders should be aware of different professional publications, be members of professional associations and use health notices to enhance care delivery (Ducharme et al., 2017). The care decisions and choices of nurse leaders should be informed by evidence-based research studies and public health concerns of the population and patients visiting their practice environment.  Nurse leaders are responsible for monitoring patient care to ascertain that members of their teams work toward optimum quality standards. Nurse leaders should consider patient concerns seriously and address them in the most effective way. As leaders, they should promote high quality care standards for each patient and their families. Successful nurse leaders focus on attainment of high quality experiences for both patients and nurses in their care setting.

Nurse leaders are members of professional organizations like the American Nurses Association and must adhere to state regulatory bodies’ requirements. For instance, the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a national entity which offer nurses with regulatory requirements at the federal level. The organization is responsible for development of state licensure examinations that adhere to current nursing practice. NCSBN provides state boards of nursing with current nursing practice programs to enhance collaborative approaches to different nursing issues and nurse leaders incorporate such new evidence into care practice among their nursing teams. The organization also provides boards with evidence-based practice content to guide nurse leaders in making decisions on regulatory issues that may impact their practice.

Nurse leaders should also understand the role of regulatory bodies like the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), which is responsible for overseeing healthcare programs like the meaning application of electronic health records and value-based care and reimbursement protocols (CMS, n.d). The CMS has certain guidelines that nurse leaders should adhere to in order to get reimbursement. The implication is that as a nurse leader, one must understand how CMS works to effectively guide their teams and play their leadership roles.

Re: Topic 8 DQ 1

The three organizations of interest are the National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA), the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), and the American Society of Perianesthesia Nurses (ASPAN). The NSNA dedicates the organization to the development of future nurses as they follow their educational path towards a career in nursing (National Student Nurses’ Association [NSNA], 2021). Additionally, the association provides scholarships to undergraduate students to complete their degrees. NSNA members can join their university and state nursing organizations and participate in leadership activities. The NSNA has biannual meetings that provide information relevant to current nursing, health care, and legislative issues (NSNA, 2021). The AACN represents nurses dedicated to academia (American Association of Colleges of Nursing [AACN], 2021). It establishes and implements educational standards for nursing students at any level of nursing education. The AACN guides nurses toward improving health care. Nurses are supported by the AACN in their education, research, and practice. The membership comprises nursing schools, faculty, and students (AACN, 2021). ASPAN is the organization that represents perianesthesia nursing. The group sets the standards of care and clinical guidelines for the care of patients in the preoperative and postoperative settings (American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses [ASPAN], 2021). The society provides membership that includes seminars, webinars, reviews for certification, and a journal dedicated to perianesthesia care. New and current information is provided along with legislation that impacts the clinical areas of care. The organization encourages certification and offers reviews at various locations in the country (ASPAN, 2021). All three organizations have stated in some form that they are committed to nursing education and improving the care of each patient. This is my goal in furthering my education. I hope that my clinical knowledge will serve each patient well. I would also like to teach in order to produce nurses dedicated to professional improvement that serves our patients and communities.

Identify three professional nursing organizations that interest you. Provide a brief summary of their purpose, requirements, and any differences in focus, population, scope, or intent. How do these organizations align to your goals and worldview?

GINA Re: Topic 8 DQ 1There are more than three professional nursing organizations that interest me. I am already a member or involved with the Society of Pediatric Nurses (SPN), and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) due to CCRN classes, testing and certification; and plan on attending the National Teaching Institute (NTI) and Critical Care exposition in May because of this association. So, for the sake of this discussion, I am going to explore nursing organizations I hope to learn more about as my career progresses as an APRN. The American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC), the American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA), and the Society of Pediatric Cardiovascular Nurses (SPCN).The ANCC is a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association (ANA) that is known for high quality credentialing and certification programs. The seek to recognized both individual and organizational excellence in terms of specialties, high quality patient care, and magnet recognition. They have multiple different programs and purpose, and requirements differ based on program. What piqued my interest is that the ANCC offers one of the few certifications related to nursing informatics. They offer the Informatics Nursing Certification that requires a current RN license, and multiple clinical hours or having completed a graduate degree in informatics. The ANCC also offers many awards, scholarships and study aids to help promote education and the advancement of the nursing field.

The American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA) more specific to informatics. The ANIA seeks to “advance nursing informatics through education, research and practice in all roles and settings” (ANIA, 2021). Membership serves to be a good way to network, they offer continue education, give access to up to date research and the Journal of Informatics Nursing, have annual conferences, and have discussion forums for members. For membership requirements you just have to have a valid license and diploma in nursing, or being a current student of nursing, and you must pay the membership fee.

The Society of Pediatric Cardiovascular Nurses (SPCN) is the smallest of the mentioned professional organizations but is most specifically related to my current role as a pediatric cardiovascular ICU nurse. The SPCN currently has about 400 members and serves as a great resource for those within the specialty to communicate with one another and share information and resources (SPNC, n.d.). The requirements are simply a membership fee. The SPCN serves a very small niche specialty, so it interests me to be able to connect with those within the same field.

In my current work, care is so specific to this population, and the pediatric population as a whole is understudied. I feel the continued education and research related to nursing practice is of upmost importance. With advancements in technology and continued advancements in research and education I feel this will continue to serve and benefit the patient population. I feel that all three of the mentioned organizations do a great job in supporting the advancement, continued educations, and dissemination of resources and information. All of these professional organization contribute to the advancement of the nursing field as a whole, and goals and motivation for doing so are very much in line with my own career interests and worldviews.

RESPOND HERE (150 WORDS, 2 REFERENCES)

Hello Gina,

Becoming a member of a nursing organization whether one or many is a nice idea.  Different nursing organizations are assigned unique roles. For instance, AACN applauds individual and organizational success in the nursing sector.  Therefore, the organization certifies programs that allow nurses to improve on their performance levels. AACN has various programs with unique purposes to improve both individual and organization excellence (Schmidt & McArthur, 2018). The nursing agency has to ensure that nurses willing to join their organization understand the demands.  ANIA is another beneficial nursing organization involved in advancing nursing informatics through research, education, and other activities providing crucial information for nurses (Harrison et al., 2020).  Therefore, ANIA membership involves nurses and nursing researchers. Also, to be allowed as a member of the agency has a valid license and diploma in nursing is necessary.   SPCN is another nursing organization.  The organization is not famous despite being important in the healthcare settings.  SPCN has 400 members who enjoy the cordial relationship as they perform their roles. The members share information and other resources that help them achieve the organization’s goals.

Review the evidence-based practice project ideas you described in Topic 5 DQ 1. Based on your initial ideas, what types of scholarly nursing research (such as quantitative or qualitative research, peer-reviewed resources , etc.) would be required to fu1ther investigate the issue? Identify the criteria you would use to evaluate the appropriateness of the research. Why is it impo1tant to select research that meets these criteria?

Topic 6 DQ 2

Description:

Imagine the following scenario: You are taking the evidence-based practice course and one of your classmates shares an EBP project draft with you. You notice that some of the research has not been cited coJTectly or even at all.

Camille, I concur with you that NSNA is an amazing organization since it is concerned with nursing career paths.  Therefore, the organization plays a crucial role in developing and mentoring future nurses.  To ensure that future nurses are competent to execute their obligations NSNA provides scholarships to undergraduate nursing students to complete their degrees (Brewington & Godfrey, 2020). The nursing agency ensures that future nurses are prepared to be successful.  Since its foundation, NSNA has facilitated most nursing students’ education in various universities.  The AACN is also an important nursing organization that is concerned with nurses’ education levels. The partners with various nursing learning institutions to develop programs that aim at improving nurses educational levels (Nunnery et al., 2019).  ASPAN is another nursing organization that allows members to be involved in webinars, seminars, and other engagements that enable them to exchange ideas.  Creating a platform for nurses to interact as well as share insights allows nurses to advance their skills and knowledge. Different reasons justify the interests nurses have with certain nursing organizations.

Future Scope, Role, and Professional Obligations Paper

The nurse educator role is becoming more and more critical as healthcare in the U.S. evolves. There is a growing demand for skilled nursing professionals to meet the dynamic patient care needs (Booth et al., 2016). Besides, there is an increasing nursing shortage due to the high number of nurses retiring and the rising aging population with increased health needs. This essay seeks to discuss the scope of my future role as a nurse educator, professional organizations influential in advancing the scope of advanced nursing, and an evolving issue likely to affect my scope or role in the future.

Scope of My Future Role as an Advanced Registered Nurse

MSN-prepared nurse educators practice in various settings, such as nursing schools, community colleges, healthcare facilities, home care agencies, and long-term care facilities. As a nurse educator, I will be required to apply my clinical abilities and nursing experience to design a nursing curriculum, including content and courses, and evaluate nursing program outcomes (Booth et al., 2016). The nurse educator’s roles in the classroom setting include facilitating learning among nursing students and facilitating their development and socialization (Booth et al., 2016).  The scope of a nurse educator also entails engaging students in scholarship and functioning within the educational environment. The nurse educator instructs and trains new nurses on basic nursing knowledge and skills and experienced nurses on advanced techniques in the clinical setting. The nurse educator evaluates health care professionals for staff development activities (Booth et al., 2016). Besides, they collaborate with nurse supervisors and nurses to set improvement goals and meet educational objectives. The nurse educator designs, implements, and evaluates academic and continuing education programs for nurses at all levels.

Future Paper on the Scope, Role, and Professional Obligation
Clinical nurse specialists are critical in influencing the modern world’s provision of high-quality healthcare. They bring unique expertise to clinical settings. Additionally, clinical nurse specialists apply their advanced knowledge and skills to aid in the achievement of high-quality outcomes for patients, their families, and communities at large (Hain & Fleck, 2014). Additionally, they serve as clinical mentors for other nurses and lead innovative change initiatives that improve healthcare systems’ ability to meet the diverse needs of the populations they serve. Clinical nurse specialists’ ability to facilitate these outcomes is attributed to their competencies. Consultation, collaboration, system leadership, research, direct care, and ethical decision-making are among the competencies (Foster & Flanders, 2014). As such, this research paper examines the scope of my future role as a clinical nurse specialist, the role of professional nursing organizations in advancing the scope, and controversial or evolving issues that are likely to affect the scope of my practice in the future.
