Essay # 3 should connect to the rhetorical mode of Cause and Effect

Read “MY MOTHER NEVER WORKED By Bonnie Smith-Yackel” and review the Handouts in order to write this essay:

 * Students always create their own prompts, while examining aspects of Cause and Effect

*Move away from the story

*Jump from the assigned reading into a topic of your own that connects to the reading

* For the topic of your essay, find a subject/topic that you find relevant that connects to the story

 you read

 * Expand the topic and perhaps connect it to your area of interest 

*Use four academic outside sources

*Essays are always written in third person point of view

*NEVER WRITE IN FIRST OR SECOND PERSON POINT OF VIEW

*REMEMBER – DO NOT SUMMARIZE THE STORY
