The feedback from the preceptor was quite crucial in improving my presentation. My preceptor guided me on how to make presentation short, informative, and less boring. Initially, my presentation was quite long. It had a junk of information with some information which was not relevant in my presentation. My preceptor pointed out that too much information will not only be boring to the audience but also it might make them confused about the information being disseminated. I learned from this exercise that an effective presentation is short and precise. I learned that an effective presentation makes the best use of the relation between the audience and the presenter. My preceptor told me that it is necessary to take full consideration of the needs of the audience to capture their interest, inspire confidence, and develop their understanding during the presentation. The preceptor emphasizes on the need for relevant examples during the presentation. Using example enables the audience to visualize the idea under question during the study. Correct examples reduce miscommunication during the presentation, which is likely the biggest cause of work-related stress. It was also important to avoid technical jargons whose meaning is not standard. My preceptor asked me to use a formal and standard language which promotes understanding what I will be presenting. Additionally, the preceptor asserted that it is necessary to prepare well before the presentation. Preparation includes understanding my audience and having a better understanding of the subject that I will be presenting. This will help reduce panicking during the presentation.
